Cooler than you, cooler than us, cooler than the other side of the pillow: it’s Parquet Courts. Making their name drawing on a wellspring of indie slackerism founded by the likes of Stephen Malkmus and Lou Reed, Parquet Courts have been remarkably consistent. Debut album Light Up Gold and the unstoppable Stoned and Starving put them on the map here in Australia and, as their reputations grew, so did their output. This year’s Human Performance was an undeniable career highlight as twin songwriters Andrew Savage and Austin Brown turn their eye to everything from social media ills to forlorn attempts at everyday connection. Pitchfork called them “audacious” - come and find out for yourselves.
