Falls have been recognised internationally as a pioneer in environmental and sustainable initiatives. Each year we do our very best to improve and save where we can. Take a look at just some of the initiatives we're really proud of.

Green Team

Our hardworking green team collects and sorts all food and rubbish waste throughout the festival, diverting 55 tonnes of recycling!

Community Group Engagement

We work with many groups to help them expand and grow, reaching out to more people and bringing positive change to their communities.

Location, Location

Falls connects world-class performers with remote Australian locations. We provide regional areas with access to a vast range of cultural entertainment.

Water Saver

Our composting toilets are 100% water free and save an average of 180 kilo litres of water each year. We harvest and store rainwater throughout the year to be used during the event.

Offset AU Go Go

Become a festival offsetter when you purchase your ticket. In 2016 we offset a whopping 1660.5 tonnes of greenhouse gas with Climate Friendly.

Artistic Culture

Falls celebrates creative abilities of all shapes and sizes. We support local acts on their way to success and help promote the music and arts landscape within our communities.

Economic Impact

In 2009, the economic benefit generated by each festival was assessed to be $22 – $27 million to local states & tourism.

Greener Trader Award

All traders must use biodegradable utensils & source local products wherever possible. All scraps are composted. Leftover food is donated to charity.

Education and Empowerment

The event is shaped by thousands of dedicated staff and volunteers and delivers important social, cultural and environmental information from start to finish.

We encourage all patrons to reduce their travel footprint and arrive in style with friends. This cuts down the amount of vehicles on the road and the amount of greenhouse gas.

Community Fund

$1 from every ticket sold is used to fund local community projects that go towards the needs of our residents.

Tourism Award Winners

We were the national runners-up in the Australian Tourism Awards in 2012, 2013 & 2014 for Excellence In Sustainability, recognised for our environmental efforts!
